Raila launches Sigor water project in Bomet

The National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential hopeful Raila Odinga, on Wednesday officially opened the Sh. 250 million Sigor Water Project in Bomet County.

The project serves more than 72,000 people in Sigor Trading Centre and the larger Chepalungu area will be supplied to end users by gravity.

The function was also attended by Odinga’s running mate, Kalonzo Musyoka, NASA Co-Principals Musalia Mudavadi, the Bomet Governor, Isaac Ruto and Red Cross Society Secretary General, Dr. Abbas Gullet among others.

The project is co-founded by the Bomet County Government and the Kenya Red Cross Society.

Odinga commended Governor Ruto for his commitment in the provision of water to Bomet County residents despite the National Treasury withholding of funds at the national level.

He said the National Government retained 85 per cent of the national resources as only 15 per cent was devolved to the counties.

The NASA government if elected, he said, will devolve at least 45 per cent of the resources to the Counties to enable development programs to be distributed evenly.

Kalonzo said that NASA was confident that they will win the presidency come Tuesday August 8th.

Mudavadi said the Jubilee Administration had borrowed heavily from the foreign donors’ indebting Kenyans even those who are yet to be born.

Ruto censured the Deputy President, William Ruto for allegedly misleading Kenyans during the recent visit with President Uhuru Kenyatta to the region that Jubilee Government had tarmacked a stretch of 260 kilometres of roads in the region.
