Preparations for swearing in of Bomet County Governor
Outgoing Sotik MP and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Dr. Joyce Laboso is among the many governor elects set to be sworn-in to office on Tuesday August 22.
Laboso garnered 176,545 to beat Isaac Ruto who got 86,452 votes to become the next Bomet Governor.
She was to be sworn-in in a ceremony to be held at the Bomet Green Stadium on Monday 21st at 12.00 noon but it was changed to Tuesday due to unexplained circumstances.
Sources indicate that the changes were made to allow a number of dignitaries expected to attend time fly into the country.
The outgoing governor is also expected to attend the fete where he will hand over the instruments of power.
Ruto and Laboso were expected to appear before the Chair of Assumption of Office Committee Jonathan Soi to complete transition process but so far they have not.
Soi who is the current County Secretary said the duo were also to meet so as to be briefed over the arrangements put in place ahead of the ceremony.
By the time of going to press, none of the duo, had attended the meeting with Soi, though Ruto and Laboso have been co-operating and were still expected to get together before the swearing in ceremony.
Among the instruments of power which the incoming governor is set to receive during the inauguration ceremony include the county flag and the County seal.
