Kajiado County ready for KCPE
A total of 16,086 candidates are set to sit Kenya Certificate of Primary Examinations from Tuesday, October 31 in Kajiado County within 540 registered centres.
Speaking to the press in Kajiado Monday, County Quality Assurance and Standards Officer Sammy Mwangi said a total of 8,354 boys and 7,732 girls had registered for KCPE in the County.
He said the number of registered boys has always been higher than the girls due to cultural practices in the region.
“The girl child in Kajiado County is still marginalized when it comes to education since they are faced with myriad cultural setbacks including female genital mutilation (FGM), early pregnancies and forced early marriages,” said Mwangi.
Mwangi said Kajiado County has 12 examination containers which are under security surveillance to ensure safety in National examinations in 2017.
“The exams are expected to be distributed from the exam containers located in every Sub County as from 5.00 am Tuesday morning and the candidates to start the exams by 8 am,” he said. “We are strictly following the National exams regulations for 2016 and security is of essence,” he added.
Kajiado County had a total of 15,497 KCPE candidates in 2016 with 7,913 boys and 7,584 girls respectively.
