One Stabbed To Death, Mob Lynch Another
Residents of Jimo village are reeling in shock and disbelief after a mob lynched a man accused of stabbing another to death in Kokech location Homabay County.
The man identified by police as Onyango Alias Sura Mbaya, 38, with others still at large is said to have attacked and inflicted a fatal injury on Saturday to Gadafi Ogembo Ongondo, 27, a well-known mason in the area.
“Physical observation show the victim suffered injuries on the left side of his chest,” said the area OCPD Patrick Osando adding that the cause of the attack is not known but police are investigating the matter.
Ongondo who was rushed to Matata hospital in Oyugis town by relatives however succumbed to the injury.
After word reached the village on Sunday morning that Ongondo had died a mob raided the home of the assailant before pelting him with stones.
According to witnesses the mob attacked the man with stones and other crude weapons before he died.
“They then burned his lifeless body,” said the witness who did not want to be mentioned saying they vowed to get the other people who aided the attack of the mason.
Police have since transferred the charred remains of the mob justice victim to Rachuonyo level four hospital mortuary and warned residents against taking law into their own hands.
