Property lost in Sindo trading centre fire incident

Property worth millions of shillings was lost in a fire that gutted down several shops at Sindo trading centre in Suba-South constituency of Migori County on Wednesday.

The fire incident which started at 3am was caused by illegal connection of electric power at the trading centre by some landlords, according to Kenya Power officers who visited the area soon after the incident.

According to one of the traders, Onyango Ouma who lost his property in the inferno, around eleven shops, four motorbikes, welding machines and a restaurant were reduced to ashes.

He said Kenya Power and Lighting officials visited the scene and established that the fire outbreak was as a result of illegal power connections.

Central Kaksingri location Chief Mr. Daniel Dwele Magadi appealed to the county government and well-wishers to come to the aid of the traders who lost their

goods to enable them restart their livelihood.

He also challenged the county government to consider hiring firefighting engines that can be used in cases of fire outbreaks.
