Charcoal dealer knifed to death in Kitui South
Police in Mutha, Kitui South, are investigating the brutal murder of a charcoal dealer who was Thursday stabbed to death by unknown persons.
The victim, identified as Mulwa Kitheka, had gone to buy charcoal from the area when the assailants blocked the truck he was driving, dragged him out and stabbed him three times in the torso, according to area police boss Kingsford Nyagah.
“He hails from Matinyani in Kitui West and deals in charcoal trade,” said Mr. Nyagah adding that Kitheka died on the spot due to excessive bleeding from the deep knife wounds.
The OCPD said the deceased was alone at the time of the deadly attack, whose motive still remains a mystery.
He said local police had launched a frantic manhunt for the killers in a bid to have them brought to book.
The police boss said the body was taken to Jordan Hospital’s mortuary in Kitui Town pending a post-mortem examination.
