The body of a  woman was found floating on water at a quarry in Nzoia Location, Kakamega County.

According to Likuyani Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD), Meshack  Kiptum, the unidentified body was sighted yesterday by boys from Eshikulu village who usually bathe in the area.

The boys, he said, had been seeing a piece of cloth on the water for a few days until the body gradually appeared.

The OCPD said the boys alerted the police who rushed to the scene and retrieved the decomposing body.

He said it is suspected that the woman may have slipped into the water several days ago as the body had decomposed.

“I call upon anybody who might have lost a female relative aged about 30 years to come and help identify this body,” said Kiptum.

The residents appealed to the government to cover the quarry abandoned after a Chinese road Construction Company completed their roads projects in the neighbouring Uasin Gishu County.

They  said the quarry posed a health risk to the residents.
