Kenyan companies to participate in AFRICA CEO FORUM
Two Kenyan companies are among five outstanding companies that have been nominated to present their projects at the AFRICA CEO FORUM 2018 awards.
Kenya’s Twiga Foods, which connects farmers and vendors for the sale of fresh produce and Kenya’s Africa’s Talking Ltd, which offers communication services which include SMS and voice APIs have been recognized for the ‘Most Promising Company of the Year’ award which turns the spotlight on the continent’s startups.
The two companies will compete with Nigeria’s Thrive Agric, which offers technological solutions to improve agricultural yields, Morocco’s Omniup, which offers free WiFi access once an advertisement has been viewed and Senegal’s InTouch, which has developed a mobile money platform.
Each year, the AFRICA CEO FORUM awards recognizes the leaders, companies and investors whose strategies and performance have contributed most to the momentum of Africa’s growth over the past year.
The event will have seven awards, ranging from African Company of the Year to Private Equity Investor of the Year.
A press statement sent to newsrooms on Wednesday said the event’s objective is to bring together African private sector to discuss the continent’s development in a highly professional environment ideal for business networking.
Another innovation this year is the CSR Strategy of the Year award that rewards a company that has implemented a high impact social and environmental responsibility policy in Africa.
James Mwangi, CEO, Equity Bank (Kenya) has been nominated for the CEO of the year category. Darshan Chandaria, CEO, Chandaria Group has been nominated for the Young CEO of the Year Award while Safaricom will compete for the CSR strategy of the year Award.
Other categories are African company of the year, Private equity investor of the year, International Company of the year award.
The 2018 AFRICA CEO FORUM is jointly organized by Jeune Afrique Media Group, the publisher of Jeune Afrique, The Africa Report and Rainbow unlimited, a Swiss company, and will be co-hosted by the International Finance Corporation.
The 2017 edition attracted almost 1,200 business leaders from across the globe.
