Annual Teachers Colleges athletic competition kicks off 




The  2018 National annual teachers training college Inter Colleges Athletics Championship are set to kick off  on Tuesday at Tambach Teachers college in Elgeyo Marakwet County.

According to the Tambach TTC Principal, Samson Komen, the college had upgraded its track to meet the required standards, as part of the preparations to host the three day event, which ends on Wednesday.

Approximately 50 colleges from seven regions which include, host Rift  Valley, Nairobi, Nyanza, Central, Coast, Eastern and Western started arriving today for the sports organized by the Kenya Teachers’ Colleges Sports Association.

The 35th edition of the championships whose theme is, “Sports for National Cohesion and Integration,” will be graced by  Athletics Kenya President, Lt. Gen (Rtd), Jackson Tuwei.

The track events will include long distance 10,000km and 5,000km and short distance races, including field events, like Shot Put, long and high jump among others.

The Colleges will be seeking to dislodge Mosoriot TTC which won last year by getting a commanding lead of 134 points at the championships, held at Thogoto TTC, last year.

Asumbi TTC and Machakos  came second and third respectively after getting 119 and 99 points.

Western won the region’s title after scooping 356 points with Rift  Valley coming second with 293 points, while Central came third with 165 points.

The 10,000km women will kick off the championships.
