Cuban Doctors in Siaya
Siaya County government through the department of health has assured that it was ready to receive the Cuban doctors.
According to the County’s Chief Officer of Health, Dr. Samuel Omondi Owino, preparations have been made to give the Cuban doctors proper accommodation and security once they arrived in the county.
Dr. Omondi, who revealed that they were going to receive a family physician and a radiologist, added that they were also committed to providing transport for the doctors while they were within the County.
He said that the doctors would operate from the Siaya County Referral Hospital, noting that even their accommodation has been secured near the health facility.
Dr. Omondi made the remarks during the launch of a two-week free medical camp at the CDF hall in Bondo town, where Siaya Deputy governor, Dr. James Okumbe stated that the Cuban doctors were going to help a great deal.
The Deputy Governor, who said that the Cuban doctors were likely to arrive in the County anytime from Tuesday, stated that they were going to supplement the local doctors’ efforts of ensuring effective provision of healthcare services in the region.
The medical camp which was organized by the International Community Church saw hundreds of locals from Bondo town and its environs benefitting from free eye check-up alongside treatment of other ailments.
