Nyeri governor receives Cuban Doctors

The  Nyeri Governor, Mutahi Kahiga on Monday received the much awaited Cuban doctors to Nyeri County.

The  two doctors, Dr. Eisy Cabrera Vazquez (Nephrologist) and Dr. Diana Rosa Alejo Lopez (Family Physician) were part of the 100 Cuban doctors received by the National Government following an agreement between the two nations.

Dr. Vazquez specializes in kidney ailments and would be of much help to the County since there are no nephrologists in Nyeri County and its environs. Dr. Alejo has a 20- year- experience in General Practice.

The two expatriates will immediately start working at the Nyeri County Referral Hospital and Mt. Kenya Hospital for the next two years.

The governor has urged staff in the medical facilities to accommodate and work hand in hand with the Cuban doctors.

The  Nyeri  Health CEC, Dr. Rachael Kamau, Nyeri Referral Hospital Medical Superintendent, Dr. Silas Njoroge, Health Chief Officer, Newton Wambugu, Health Director, Dr. Nelson Muriu and Economic Adviser to the governor, Ndirangu Gachunia were also present among others.
