Police in Kericho arrest passenger with bhang worth Sh.510, 000 

Police in Kericho have arrested a passenger transporting bhang with an estimated street value of Sh.510, 000 concealed in second hand clothes bales in a Mombasa bound bus.

The  Kericho OCPD, Justus Kitetu said the man identified as Kelvin Ochieng Okech was arrested on Wednesday, aboard Tahmeed Bus Coach registration number KCK 103A that was heading to Mombasa from Kisumu.

He said that when the bus stopped briefly in Kericho town to pick passengers, the conductor while loading more bags for passengers boarding, smelt bhang from three second hand clothes bales in the luggage compartment.

Kitetu said the conductor alerted the driver who drove the bus to Kericho police station, where officers interrogated the passengers on board before the owner of the second hand clothes bales identified his luggage.

The suspect is currently being held for questioning at Kericho police station, before being arraigned in court.

The OCPD disclosed that each of the three-second hand clothes bales contained bhang which weighed 150 kilograms.

He commended the driver and conductor of the bus for alerting police on the incident.
