Police investigates cause of fire that killed granny, 80 




Police in Naivasha are investigating the cause of a fire that killed an 80 year old granny and destroyed property of unknown value.

The mysterious fire broke out at the deceased’s house at Komokomo Estate in Naivasha town according to an eye witness identified as Paul Kimani. He said that the deceased who lived alone fell asleep moments after lighting some firewood to keep her warm at night when the incident happened.

Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru said the fire consumed all the deceased’s property adding that police were investigating the incident.

Meanwhile a middle aged man is admitted at the Naivasha Sub County hospital after he was attacked by a marauding Hippo which left him for dead. The hippo bit the victim in his legs as it feed along the shores of Lake Naivasha.

According to Lake Naivasha Boat owners association Chairman David Kilo, cases of Hippo attacks on fishermen have been on the rise around the lake.

He appealed to the local KWS to compensate the victims most of whom have been breadwinners for their families saying most of them are now languishing in poverty.
