Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya who is attending an investment conference in Australia has sent a message of condolence to the family and relatives of five children who were on Thursday evening struck by lightning in Lumakanda Secondary school in Lugari sub county.
The five were among other children who had gathered for a football match when they sought shelter under a tree after it started raining.
One of them went to pick the ball as others went to shelter under a tree and when he came back he found that his five friends had died and one was seriously injured and bleeding.
The injured boy is admitted at Moi teaching and Referral hospital while bodies of the deceased were taken to Chebaywa hospital mortuary.
