Deputy Governor declares interest to unseat his boss
Isiolo Deputy Governor Mohamed Gulleid has officially declared his interest to contest against his boss Godana Doyo in the forth coming general elections.
Gulleid who was addressing 600 single mothers and 20 groups from marginalized communities in Bulapesa ward at Isiolo Catholic Mission hall urged Isiolo residents to vote for leaders with a vision and not be swayed over handouts.
The Deputy Governor said 75 percent of Isiolo leaders were only seen during the electioneering period with handouts but without projects to show on the ground after serving for five years or more.
Gulleid said he would contest against Doyo on Chama Cha Mashinani and urged Isiolo residents to vote him and President Uhuru Kenyatta for a second term.
He said that some governors including Godana Doyo had misappropriated public funds including sh14 billion received in the last four years budget.
The money, he claimed, was enough to change the County’s face and stop the perennial clashes at watering points by providing more boreholes and water pans.
He condemned Sunday’s clashes between Borana and Samburu herdsmen saying the failure of the County leadership had caused innocent people to die.
Gulleid appealed to the two warring communities to deliberate and come up with a formula that will end bloodshed and loss of property.
