Governor accuses rivals of destroying ODM candidates’ posters

Kilifi  Governor, Amason  Kingi  wants the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to punish aspirants suspected to have destroyed ODM candidates’ posters on Saturday night ahead of the arrival of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Governor Kingi said some Jubilee supporters either tore posters or placed others over those of NASA aspirants on Saturday night ahead of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s campaign rally on Sunday.

Speaking to the press after meeting Muslim leaders at Takaye Sunday evening, Kingi urged aspirants to follow the right procedure in erecting billboards and displaying posters to avoid political animosity.

However, IEBC Malindi Constituency Coordinator, Masha  Sudi  told the press on telephone that they have not received any complaint concerning the allegations raised by the NASA coalition.

“I direct the parties concerned to file a report to police to enable them investigate the matter,” he said adding, “If found guilty of committing such an electoral offence they will be punished as per the law.”
