Homa Bay County to Embrace Green House Farming

Farmers in Homabay have been called upon to embrace green house production of vegetables to boost production.

Speaking during a training sessions for local farmers in Homa Bay town  the farmers drawn Clair Onditi,  coordinator of a community based organization asked the farmers to embrace greenhouse farming despite the high capital input.

She also advised farmers to consult agricultural experts before  purchasing insecticides to avoid falling prey to unlicensed stockists who sold uncertified products.

Onditi however complained that farmers have not been keeping records making it hard to account for profits and losses.

In an interview with KNA, the officer who is also a member of Center for Education and Participatory Rural Development stressed that green house farming had the potential to transform the livelihoods of farmers.
