Leaders Defend NASA Fund Drive
Alego/Usinga leaders have expressed their support for the National Supper Alliance (NASA) bid to seek legitimate means of raising funds to facilitate Raila Odinga’s presidential campaign.
Led by local MP Samuel Atandi, the leaders said funds raised through the initiative will go a long way in ensuring smooth running of the high stake campaigns in the fresh election as ordered by the Supreme Court after it nullified the election of President Uhuru Kenyatta who is flying the Jubilee coalition flag.
The legislator flanked by an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) stalwart Peter Omondi argued that Odinga humbly requested Kenyans of goodwill to make small contributions to his campaign kitty.
He was speaking during a press briefing at a Kisumu hotel this morning, where he pointed out that contributions from Kenyans will affirm that the common mwananchi has recognized the stakes in NASA affairs.
The leaders took issue with Mr. Aden Duale, who yesterday told Kenyans not to contribute to the NASA kitty, saying it was a ploy to swindle Kenyans of their hard earned cash.
He said raising election funds was within the law, and that it was a decent practice successfully embraced in mature democracies all over the world where campaign funds are raised through public participation.
