Malava MP scoffs at calls to join Cord
Malava Member of Parliament (MP), Malulu Injendi has said he will seek re-election on a Jubilee party ticket despite calls by his supporters that he joins Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD).
The MP contested on a United Democratic Forum (UDF) party in the 2013 elections which was one of recently dissolved parties that form the Jubilee party.
Speaking at St. Teresa Esanjiro primary in the constituency on Sunday, when he met elders to seek their counsel, Injendi said he had confidence of winning a second term based on his performance.
The area residents overwhelmingly supported Amani Party, led by Musalia Mudavadi as its presidential candidate while the late former housing minister, Soita Shitanda contested the Kakamega governor`s seat.
Mudavadi finished third in the race after Uhuru Kenyatta of Jubilee alliance and Raila Odinga of Cord; Shitanda lost to Wycliffe Oparanya of Cord.
He urged youths who have attained 18 years to apply for national identification cards so that they may later register as voters.
