Otichilo launches County Integrated Development plan (CIDP) Web portal
The Vihiga Governor, Dr. Wilber Ottichilo has unveiled the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) web portal.
Speaking during official launch of the CIDP web portal in Mbale town on Saturday, Ottichilo said the online platform will provide Vihiga County residents with an opportunity to help his government prioritize development projects.
“The online technology will provide an important platform for public participation on development matters as required by the law,” he said.
The governor reiterated his position, saying all development projects to be undertaken by his government would be informed and guided by ideas and suggestions residents posted on the portal.
“Vihiga is the first county to launch this kind of portal,” noted Ottichilo who urged the locals to fully utilize the platform which can be accessed via www. countyprojects.or.ke
“We want to do things differently, thus the reason we have developed this online communication tool which we hope would positively impact on decision-making processes with regard to development programmes,” he added.
The former Emuhaya Member of Parliament disclosed he had approached professionals with roots in the county, inviting their development support, both in terms of ideas and skills.
The governor further appealed to people living in the Diaspora but with roots in the county to assist turnaround economic fortunes of the region by giving ideas through the development portal.
He pointed out the portal, if managed properly would greatly reduce cost and time used by county officers to collate data for project management and development.
To sustain the development web portal, the County boss revealed his government was at advanced discussion with Telkom Kenya for provision of seamless data.
He thanked Andrew Mbuya, an ICT professional, who voluntarily developed the CIDP web portal.
During his inaugural speech on 21st August, 2017 at Kidundu stadium, the governor identified Information communications Technology (ICT) as the engine that will drive his economic development agenda.
