Police searching for suspects

Police in Nyandarua County are still researching for suspects who escaped from custody at Miharati Police  Station, Kipipiri Sub- County about a month ago.

This  was  said  by  Nyandarua North OCPD, Timon Odingo who intimated that police are internally investigating the suspects’ disappearance.

Odingo  was speaking in his office on Thursday on behalf of the County Police Commander, Hamisi Mabeya.

The police boss was reacting to a protest by people from Sophia village who claimed they were being harassed by police for torching the home of one of the suspects who had been arrested for murdering a villager.

He added, “Burning of property is a criminal offence and one can be charged with arson; that is why police are also taking interest in the matter”.

On Monday this week, the villagers marched to Nyandarua Senator, Muriuki Karue’s office to seek his intervention in the harassment claims.
