PS Broadcasting lauds Computer laboratory project in Western Kenya school
An ultra-modern computer laboratory will be constructed at Bushiangala secondary School in Kakamega County, the Broadcasting and Telecommunications Principal Secretary, Sammy Itemere said.
Mr. Itemere said that the multimillion shilling laboratory will be put up immediately gaps in a proposal were filled and urged stakeholders to fast track that.
Flanked by Ministry of Interior PS, Jospheta Mukobe, Ikolomani MP, Benard Shinali, and the ICT Authority Managing Director, Robert Mugo, the PS said that the laboratory should be in place before the end of the year.
The PS regretted that scores of secondary school students in Ikolomani constituency had not been exposed to computer, underscoring the need for sound understanding of communication technology by all, regardless of age.
Mr.Itemere commended Multi-Choice for promoting education in the area, noting that satellite dishes and television sets worth Sh.800, 000 donated by the company to Lirhembe Girls,Shikunga and Bushangala secondary schools recently had enabled students access relevant educational programmes.
He concurred with a Director of the company, Stephen Isaboke and Mr.Mugo that embracing ICT had encouraged economic growth in the country.
They were speaking at Isulu and Bushangala Primary Schools where the PS inaugurated digital learning programme Friday.
The local MP also promised to work out modalities of putting up storeyed buildings at the two schools disclosing that plans were afoot to pump water to several schools and neighbouring communities.
