Shabana floors ten man Silibwet

Shabana  Football Club floored Ten-Man Silibwet Football one-nil (1-0), in an entertaining Division One clash played at Gusii Stadium on Saturday.

The lone goal came in the 86th minute courtesy of Peter Oketch’s header following lapses in Silibwet’s defense.

The visitors were forced to play one-man less after Geoffrey Cheruiyot was given matching orders for using abusive language against the match officials in second half.

The decision seemed to have played to the host’s favor who camped in Silibwet’s backyard launching several raids.

Their efforts were rewarded in the dying minutes when Shabana’s Oketch rose above the opponents’ defenders to slot home following a fine corner kick delivery.

After the match, Silibwet’s tactician Moffat Kimutai admitted that the best team won and promised to improve on the mistakes in the next match.

His counterpart, Kanuli Andrew promised to improve on his attacking in their next match against the Kakamega Green Commandos.

Shabana was relegated from nationwide league last season following a series of financial constraints which made them fail to honor some matches.

However, things seem to have slightly turned in their favor this season after receiving financial support from Kisii Governor James Ongwae.
