Stick to your campaign schedule, Politicians told
Politicians in Juja constituency have been asked to stick to their respective campaign schedules to avoid clashes and mayhem between their supporters.
Juja OCPD Ms Patricia Nasio, while addressing the press in her office said that police had heightened security in the area during the campaign period as the government did not want to take any chances with security matters.
She asked the politicians to play their part in maintaining law and order.
Nasio said that all the candidates registered their campaign schedules with Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and true to their word, they have followed their schedule and there has not been any case of supporters clashing at the same campaign venue.
“We have not had any security threat as everyone is sticking to their campaign schedule, we urge the politicians to keep up with that spirit,” she said.
Nasio explained that they are following the IEBC time schedule restricting campaigns up to 6:00 pm, and disclosed that they also offer security to those who want to hold meetings at night.
“Any aspirant who feels that the area they are visiting could be insecure especially at night, they come to our office and we give them security officers who accompany them,” said Nasio.
“So far security in Juja is tight and we have not had any major incident, we have enough police officers to handle the elections and any security threat that may arise,” she said.
She assured the residents of their security during the campaign period saying that her officers are conducting patrols day and night.
“If anyone hears anything that can lead to conflict, let them alert us so that we can arrest the situation before it escalates into a crisis,” said Nasio.
